'What is this?'
Said the dark knight upon the road;
Said the wee laddie (tae the dark knight upon the road)
'It's ma bannocks an' ma books.'

What's that on your back?'
Said the dark knight upon the road,
'Ma bannocks an' ma books,'
Said the wee boy an' still he stood.'
'What are you doing so late?
Said the dark knight on the road.
'I'm goin to the school,'
Said the wee boy an' still he stood.'
or:
'What have you on your back?'
'My bannocks an' ma books.'
Peasie: "I cannae mind nae mair o it. He was just tryin the wee boy oot."
