Edinburgh and Lothians Branch of the TMSA, jointly with West Lothian Council, are hosting the next Singers' Gathering, to be held in the newly-refurbished Regal Community Theatre, Bathgate, on 24th/25th February 2007. The brochure is now available from the TMSA Edinburgh office or from the Box office at the Regal Theatre, and it is also possible to download it as a pdf file on the Edinburgh and Lothians TMSA website.

This event is "Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the TMSA in unaccompanied and group singing, focussing on the evolving Scots song tradition," and we hope to see many friends, old and new, attending for the weekend, from 10am on Saturday until 5pm on Sunday. We are delighted that Pete Shepheard, a founder member of the TMSA, has kindly agreed to be Singer in Residence, and there will be a be a headline Concert on the Saturday night, featuring Karine Polwart, Corrina Hewat and Annie Grace, who took the 2006 Celtic Connections and Edinburgh Fringe by storm. They will be ably supported by Young Traditional Singer of Merit, Siobhan Miller, (sponsored by Aberdeen branch TMSA), and by Pete himself.

There is a very full programme for both days, including sessions, talks and workshops on a variety of song-related topics, including, as in previous Singers' Gatherings, "The Muckle Sing", a special workshop and performance platform for Community Singing Groups. Apart from those already named above, tutors will include Scott Gardiner and Geordie Murison, Brian Miller, Ian Walker, and Gifford Lind. Ian Green of Greentrax recordings (also a sponsor) will be doing "Desert Island Discs" with Pete Shepheard, and Dan Markey and Jimmy Scott are hosting a Gospel session on the Sunday morning.
